The festival will be held outside St. John’s Parks & Recreation Center in Crown Heights on May 20th, from 11am to 4pm, rain or shine!

The event will showcase organizations in three categories— urban farming, culinary and technology—who come together to celebrate our diversity and bring greater awareness to the importance of nutrition and access to healthy, affordable and locally grown food.

In the Gardening row, you'll get a chance to pick your own basil and lettuce seedlings, learn how to transplant them, find out about and taste peppers from all over the world, discover the art of making seed bombs, learn how to raise your own hens, and even taste honey from all five boroughs while learnings how it's produced.

The Culinary row will make your mouth water, with demonstrations and tastings of easy-to-make foods from all over the world: tastings of lasagna, nopal salad, veggies noodles, special recipes from Afghanistan, Venezuela and Peru, accompanied by Middle eastern mint tea. You'll get to learn kitchen skills from the pros!

In the Technology row, we'll have activities for all, from painting with natural dyes and games with 'invisible' ink to science experiments, creative labs, video games and learning how to compost with red worms.

We also have a growing list of prize items, so make sure to participate in the raffle to take home some great gifts!
